PUREZA B. RADOMES- A Poem to Inspire Nursing Students

I wrote this verse on the 3rd day of November 1992 to give hope and inspiration to Pureza, my 4th child, and her classmates who were then undergoing a review class in preparation for the May Nursing Licensure Exams scheduled that same year. I sent this verse to her in the Divine Word University [DWU], Tacloban City, with the instruction that same be shared with her classmates. Luckily, all 200 plus of them DWU nursing reviewees and examinees passed the board. We, parents and successful nursing examinees, were deeply elated as a result

PUREZA B. RADOMES, A Free Verse

P- - ureza and a horde of others are sweating it out day and night

U- - nder the aegis and canopy of dear DWU

R- - estudying lessons lest you be culled and

faced the stigma of being branded moron

E- - ven to the wee hours of the night , notes and chores to review you must

Z- - ero has no place in your lexicon, sharp and ready you've been honed

A- - ltar of success no doubt awaits you at the far end of the road.

B- - eat the drum, sound the alarm and let the winds take their course,

go on with the fight- face obstacles

R- - edouble efforts and march ahead of time

A- - lways in the right direction; Gordian knots are ever present,

yes, mind them not- they are worldly

D- -oers are most needed to make this world a little bright

O- - nly the slowfoot winced, they have no place in society

M- - iss the boat not, take the first opportunity, but when the going is rough,

pray for his guidance

E- - verything will turn out right, he'll not fail you

S- - uccess after all is earned. It's for the aggressive and assertive.
