GWENDOLINE RUAIS the 5’-11” Philippines entry to the Miss World 2011 tilt held at Earls Court, London last November 6 bagged Miss World 2011 first runner-up. The 21-year-old Filipino-French beauty from the City of Muntinlupa, Philippines Gwendolyn Ruais bested 24 other candidates. Gwendolene deserves the warmest congratulations from her countrymen and the world at large for being the highest-placed Filipina in the Miss World tilt since 1973.
Lovely Miss Amanda Perez of Puerto Rico won 3rd place in the contest.
Miss Venezuela, Ivian Lunasol Sarcos was crowned the Miss World 2011 title being the winner. The 22-year old beauty, who for 5 years trained to serve God as a nun, cupped her face with her hands and managed a winsome smile when the sounds rang announcing her as winner. Sarcos’country is noted for its patriotic citizens.
Alexandria Mills of the USA, 2010 winner of Miss World pageant did the crowning on Miss Venezuela Ivian Sarcos’ head. The crown was witnessed to have sparkled.
113 beauties representing 113 countries were represented in the contest with the show being witnessed by more than one billion viewers in 150 countries.
The final seven, chosen by the judges after a thorough screening were Miss England, Miss Korea, Miss Philippines, Miss Puerto Rico, Miss Scotland, Miss South Africa and Miss Venezuela.
Ordos in Mongolia, China, will be the venue for 2012 competition.
